With a PhD in Physics from Osmania University, he had his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University New York (1989) and during this period he underwent training in FBI, Interpol, Metropolitan Police, Scotland Yard and others.

Soon after retirement in 2007 Dr. Gandhi established the first independent forensic science lab in India in the name of Truth Labs along with 18 retired Directors of Central FSL’s, State FSL’s and Heads of forensic, police, medical, scientific personnel with the guidance and mentorship of Judiciary and Police, administrative service personnel of eminence as a part of professional social responsibility and in the last 15 years Truth Labs has assisted many courts including Supreme Court, police including CBI, banks, insurance companies including public, private and foreign, corporates, common people, etc. from its offices spread in all the six metropolitan cities. Truth Labs has supported the existing Central and State FSL’s besides helping more than 15,000 victims of fraud, cheating, rape, murder, cybercrimes, etc. across 25 states of India besides a few countries abroad, saving more than Rs. 7500 crores of Indian public exchequer funds by averting frauds.

For his distinguished service Dr. Gandhi was awarded Professional Excellence Award by the Dy. Prime Minister and the Home Minister in 2002, B C Roy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004, Indian Academy of Forensic Science Fellowship in 2004, AP Academy of Scientists Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, Telangana State Governor’s Excellence Award in 2020 and several others.

To popularize forensic science across India, he initiated several Academic courses during his career in Andhra University, Osmania University during service and later in Truth Labs at University of Hyderabad, Banaras Hindu University, NALSAR, MNLU, Ahmedabad, besides Training more than 10,000 officers at NJA, NPA, State Judicial and Police, Academies, Banks & Insurance Institutions and ASCI, Hyderabad imparting knowledge to Judicial, Police, Prosecution, forensic scientists and allied enforcement agencies as well as applied scientists and students.
